What does it mean to really be trauma informed? I’m learning the answer to this even more deeply watching Ruth Lanius’ series of webinars on EEGLearn. As most of you probably know, Ruth is one of the leading neuroscience researchers on the impact of neglect and trauma on the developing (and developed) brain. The impact is massive, affecting every major system in our brains. In this series, Ruth is focusing on the vestibular system-balance- in developmental trauma. What you might not know is what a good teacher she is, clear and welcoming. I know most of us didn’t sign into this profession as neuroscience but as this fellow attendee wrote, it is all so much more understandable and so much less stigmatized in this course:
”Good to be alive to see us begin to know who we are. It affirms so many of my experiences. It reflects the physical, emotional, mental, spiritual and relational elements of our humanity. I feel so lucky to be doing this work in such good company.”
