How quickly can one expect change to begin when utilizing neurofeedback?
"In my experience, I expect to see the central nervous system of this patient begin to change within 10-20 sessions. I expect to see some manifestation of the easing of fear or rigidity in the body or sleep or nightmares or dissociative events - I expect to see some impact on that within 20 sessions." - SF
Today is the day! My new 6-part webinar, "THE NATURE OF FORGETTING" begins today. There's still plenty of time to register: buff.ly/2OGszm7. As the course continues, previously taped lectures will be available for newcomers to watch before jumping in, so you can jump in whenever you like. I hope you'll join us later today! ... We will be discussing levels of arousal in response to traumatic events that are escapable (flight-fight) and to those that are inescapable (emotional shutdown or tonic immobility). Not surprisingly, the CNS is responding quite differently in these situations and these differences which begin in childhood persist in dissociative disorders. Join us, beginning on Feb 16th for a 6 part webinar in which we will review the levels of arousal in traumatic response as well as the pain responses that attend these different levels. The implications for treatment are quite profound and strongly suggest that training the brain with neurofeedback is essential to resolve these issues. Visit buff.ly/2OGszm7 to join now! ... What you are seeing in this slide (at the bottom) is the connectivity between the reptilian and limbic areas in the brains of people with histories of early childhood neglect and assault who dissociate and what happens to that pattern of connectivity (at the top) in 80% of subjects after one session of EEG neurofeedback. Here we see pre-frontal connectivity taking over. We'll discuss the implications of this slide for the treatment of dissociation in my upcoming webinar "The Nature of Forgetting", beginning Feb16th.
